उत्पाद वर्णन
Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), often sold under brand names like Ursocol, Urso, or Actigall, is a naturally occurring bile acid that is used in medicine to treat various liver and gallbladder conditions. A 300 mg tablet is a common dosage.
How it works:
UDCA's primary mechanisms of action include:
- Reducing cholesterol saturation in bile: It decreases the amount of cholesterol secreted into bile and inhibits its absorption from the intestine. This helps to dissolve cholesterol gallstones.
- Protecting liver cells: In cholestatic liver diseases (conditions where bile flow is impaired), toxic bile acids can accumulate and damage liver cells. UDCA is more hydrophilic (water-loving) than other bile acids, and it displaces the more hydrophobic (fat-loving) and toxic bile acids, thereby protecting liver cells from damage.
- Improving bile flow (choleretic effect): It promotes the secretion of bile, which helps clear the bile ducts.
- Immunomodulatory effects: In certain autoimmune liver diseases, UDCA can help modulate the immune response, reducing inflammation and damage to bile ducts.
