Linezolid is an antibiotic belonging to the oxazolidinone class. It is used to treat serious bacterial infections, especially those resistant to other antibiotics.

Common Uses:

• Pneumonia: Both hospital-acquired (nosocomial) and community-acquired pneumonia.
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Complicated and uncomplicated infections, including diabetic foot infections (without bone infection).
• Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) infections: Including cases with bloodstream infection (bacteremia).
• Off-label uses: In some instances, it might be used for other infections like drug-resistant tuberculosis, anthrax, and certain infections of the central nervous system
